About Dr Marina Curran

I'm Dr. Marina Curran and I am a qualified GP with a burning passion for women's health, particularly in the realm of menopause care. With years of training, I am dedicated to ensuring that every woman receives the specialised care she deserves during this transformative phase of life.

My journey into the world of medicine began at University of Galway, where I obtained my degree in 1998. Following my studies, I joined the Western GP training scheme, refining my skills and knowledge to become a general practice doctor.

It was during my time in South Wales that my real interest in menopause care took root. Working in a community gynaecology role, | witnessed firsthand the unique challenges women face during this stage of life.

To further hone my expertise, to further hone my expertise I completed my advanced menopause specialist training with the British menopause society

My firm belief is that every woman should have access to specialist care throughout her menopause journey, so she can thrive with good proactive healthcare.

Understanding that this journey is uniquely experienced by each woman, I am committed to providing personalised, compassionate care that caters to the specific needs of every patient.
By raising awareness and enhancing understanding, I hope to empower women with the knowledge they need to navigate this transformative phase with confidence and vitality.

Since December 2022, I have been working in the Complex Menopause Clinic at University Hospital Galway (UHG). Having seen over 200 patients to date, I have witnessed the transformative impact of specialised care on women's lives.

Additionally, I serve as a doctor in the Symptomatic Breast Unit at UHG, contributing to women's health in various capacities. I attend regular webinar and meetings to keep up to date with evidence based menopause care and I am also on the board of the Irish Menopause Society.
